I’m geekmom, aka Boo. I’ve been working in the computer industry since 1989 with companies such as Apple Computer, Maxis, and Broderbund Software. In 1993 I started working as a consultant for a networking/IT/Mac consulting company and called myself geekmom and while continuing working for other Fortune 500 companies, I still ran my computer consulting business.
In 2001 I registered geekmom.net. I wanted to register geekmom.com, but someone had registered it and sat on it for a year and did nothing with it. In fact, geekmom.com sat for sale for $6,000 until 2007 when someone else bought it and started a blog. Sadly, I never had the $6K to put toward the domain name yet I continued to blog on geekmom.net.
Geekmom is a resource for WAHMs (work at home mom or those who want to be one) with getting up and running with blogs and content. I assist people with plugin questions, technology, and finding work-at-home businesses and/or telecommute jobs. Many of the WAHMs out there help others with SEO, content, and how to blog while I look at more of the technical side of plugins, feeds, and themes.
geekmom.net (originally geekMom(); ) started out in phpWebSite and then evolved into phpNuke. WordPress has pretty much scrubbed those systems off the market with blogging so now I stick to helping people with WordPress and sometimes blogger.
Those interested in promoting their products should contact Geekmom for blogging assistance or use some of the tools, programs, and articles listed here at Geekmom to help with getting the world out there about business. Google isn’t going to jump at you because you’re new, you have to grab the opportunity.
